Vanessa Royal Bio
Vanessa Royal is a proven expert in Communications, Leadership, Business Strategy and Fundraising. As a Maxwell Certified Speaker, Coach and Trainer, Vanessa and her husband Jeff work together through their businesses Elevation Strategies, LLC and Elevate925 to offer expertise to non-profits, startups, small business and individuals to develop clarity, action and alignment that leads to greater success.
Previously, Vanessa served as Vice President at River Bank & Trust in Wetumpka, Alabama. In her role as a Relationship Manager, she helped customers achieve their financial goals by providing a variety of loan products such as construction and mortgage lending, personal and business lines of credit and land purchase loans.
Vanessa also served as Executive Director of the Wetumpka Area Chamber of Commerce, where she led initiatives to serve the needs of local business, economic and community development, government relations and strategic planning for tourism and recreation in the greater Wetumpka and River Region area of Alabama.
Moving to Wetumpka after ten years in Nashville’s music industry as both a self-published songwriter and staff writer for BMG Music Publishing, Vanessa maintained an Etsy shop where she sold original paintings, consulted to local businesses on marketing and worked as a free-lance writer for publications such as River Region Health & Fitness Magazine, the Wetumpka Herald and created a popular blog following her journey through recovery from a serious hip injury.
While attending Lee University in Cleveland, TN, Vanessa earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, while working as a whitewater raft guide on the Ocoee, Nantahala, Pigeon, and French Broad rivers throughout Southeastern United States. After graduating she was hired by Lotus Designs, a grass roots lifejacket manufacturer that quickly grew to become an industry leader and later purchased by Patagonia, Inc., making Vanessa the Northwest Account Manager for the kayaking and whitewater product lines.
Vanessa completed her Institute of Organization Management (IOM) at the University of Georgia in Athens and the Economic Development Intensive at Auburn University. She also completed the Grant Writing and Management program at Auburn University Montgomery and Finance from the Vanderbilt Business Management Program, Owen Graduate School of Management.
She has participated in local and regional efforts such as Region 7 Workforce Development, Business Council of Alabama, Alabama Chamber of Commerce Association, Leadership Elmore County Board of Directors, Project River Region, and the Wetumpka Downtown Redevelopment Plan. Vanessa has served as President of the Wetumpka Rotary Club and was a founding Board member for the Kelly Fitzpatrick Memorial Gallery and currently serves as Treasurer for the Elmore County Family Resource Center. She is also the Music Director at Village Church in Wetumpka where she attends with her family.
